Both curious new listeners and long-time fans find value in supporting articles on your website. An article may serve as the entry point for your podcast (writing helps a lot with your podcast’s web SEO!), or it may serve as a re-entry for others who want to go beyond what they heard in a recent episode.

Whether it’s to bring your episode to new audiences with a transcript, or to bring your spoken words into clearer vision with supporting images, or to expand your thinking into the written word, an article adds dimension to your audio.

Introducing articles

Add to all you’ve created so far with your podcast’s audio by adding accompanying articles to your Podsite. Articles live at the top navigation, and they appear in chronological order on your site. Each one maintains the design of your Podsite as a standalone page you can link to anywhere.

Not sure what to add as an article? The easiest place to start is with articles that enhance your episodes:

• Transcripts for hearing impaired fans—and for SEO (like Greater Boston does)
• Visuals or other media that support your episode (like Equal Parts or Humanaturedoes)
• Extended credits (like The Lonely Palette and Accession does)
• A list of sponsors (and offer codes, like Twenty Thousand Hertz does)

You can also add articles that:

• Updates your fans about upcoming events or a tour (like My Favorite Murder does)
• Highlights a new press mention (like The Longest Shortest Time does)
• Celebrates a milestone for your show, like an upcoming new series/season debut or new addition to your team (like Wooden Overcoats does)
• Showcases listener questions and comments (like The Allusionist does)

And you can also use articles to extend into other spaces:

Creating an original article on your Podsite

1. Login to the editing dashboard from your Podsite by clicking the link in the footer or by adding “/admin” to the end of your website domain name. 2. Select “Articles” then “New article”, then add text to your heart’s content.

• Want to style your article with headers, bold/italics, and others? We use a simple format called Markdown (and here’s a cheat sheet on using it).
• You can also add images by uploading the image to an image hosting platform like Dropbox, TinyPic, ImageBB, or Imgur, then using Markdown to include it in your article.

3. And of course, don’t forget to connect the dots as you hit publish on your new article:

• At the end of your article, link to the episode you reference so visitors can listen, too.
• Link to your article in the episode description, so listeners can visit your website to learn more.
